About this place
Fresh pasta or thin-crust pizza? At Spazza, either can take centre stage, depending on what you fancy. Diners have praised the fresh pasta’s chewy texture and thick noodles; one review of the arrabbiata also singled out the pasta’s texture and flavour. The menu includes Napolitan topped with a soft-boiled egg, as well as a creamy Napolitan made with mascarpone. The latter is worth considering if you’re after something beyond a tomato-based sauce.
Some diners have enjoyed the contrast of the pizza’s light, thin crust and generous cheese topping. One person returned to the quattro formaggi repeatedly, a tempting reason to try the pizzas here. Spazza’s version combines Gorgonzola, mozzarella, mascarpone and Parmigiano with honey—a good choice when you’re in the mood for a mix of cheeses.
Before the main event, there’s a starter of potato salad with iburigakko pickles and cream cheese, topped with a generous helping of prosciutto. A small plate and a glass of wine make a fine way to pass the time while the pasta or pizza is prepared. The fresh-pasta and pizza café-diner Spazza in Higashi-Nakano serves lunch and dinner, and has terrace seating.
